Vacations In Cambridge and Facts You Should Know

Cambridge is known throughout the world for being home to the University of Cambridge, one of the most prestigious in Britain. The University has a total of some thirty one colleges including; King’s College, Lucy Cavendish College, Magdalene College and Murray Edwards College which have a major impact upon the city. The city is an ancient town dating back to the medieval period and therefore there there are countless fine examples of breathtaking architecture. You may stroll through the ancient streets, enjoy one of the various parks or gardens or you may wish to take a punt down the River Cam. If punting is your thing, then you should hire a punt or for something different one can rent a chauffeured punt. You will discover various organisations offering this facility along the river. As a further alternative a cruise down the river in a narrowboat.

The city is also known for its churches, with 13 of them situated within Cambridge’s confines. Of the thirteen churches located in Cambridge town centre it is All Saints Church which is said to be one of the most incredible examples of Gothic revival architecture to be found in the country. Another interesting church is Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of only 4 Norman round churches in England. The tiniest of Cambridge’s churches is St Peter’s, which is hidden away in a peaceful part of the city. As there is a vast collection of visitor attractions available in Cambridge, it would be nearly impossible to visit all of them in just 24 hours.  Therefore we advise that you spend a minimum of 48 hours in Cambridge.
