Staying In The Hebrides Isles Of Scotland

Spending most of my vacation on the beach has never been my my thing. Don’t get me wrong, I often spend time relaxing on a sandy beach, however, I also like to spend time visiting other places while on . I thoroughly enjoy taking in the atmosphere, I also like to experience the local food and culture. In truth I simply enjoy visiting new places each year and I try very hard trying to discover something totally different. This is why, most probably, I so thoroughly enjoy visits to the island in the called the and why I often decide to hire self catering cottages on the Isle of Harris.

is a small island found just off the west coast of . The Isle of is only one of over 300 of little islands  known widely as the Outer Hebrides, although to be 100% correct the UK postal address is the Western Isles. Accepted as either the Western Isles or the Outer Hebrides the islands are immensely beautiful and fascinatingly unique. For people who enjoy spending time on a beach with golden sand Harris has countless to choose from and virtually all are spectacular and nearly always deserted. It sometimes seems around bend you are faced with an awesome sight. The roads on Harris are completely different to those found on the mainland of Scotland single track roads are very common and you will need to know how to use passing places to let oncoming traffic past and also let traffic from behind to pass too. Just keep it in mind that you stop on the left of the road. However, if it is a large and cumbersome vehicle wishing to get past you and the passing place is on your right hand side you can pull up into it to allow the big vehicle pass easily but take great care not to drive off the edge of the road too much.

One of the most common factors in attracting visitors to the Isle of Harris is to enjoy the islands landscape and culture. The culture of the Isle of Harris has, over hundreds of years been powerfully influenced by the Celtic, Norse, Scottish and English races. These days Gaelic is the most widely spoken language and although many speak English, it is most likely their 2nd language. The Harris people are amongst the friendliest on earth and their hospitality is extremely well known. The Harris folk are very proud of the amazingly beautiful Harris countryside and try very hard to keep the place clean and tidy so it is crucially important clean up after yourself.

Dotted all along the south west coast of the Isle of Harris you will find some of the most breath takingly beautiful golden sandy beaches in all of Scotland, and it could be said the whole of the U.K. The waters are extremely clear and it is a fact that the Isle of Harris beaches are amazingly clean. Unfortunately it is impossible to avoid debris washing up from ships in the Atlantic but thankfully there isn’t much.

If you are currently deciding about a visit to Harris the why not give some thought to hiring an Isle of Harris self catering house please visit http://www.isleofharrisselfcateringhouse.co.uk/
